I was just talking to someone who has had a SGC for many years and he says that i need to have either a permission to shoot on a farm or membership to a clay club otherwise my application will be turned down!!!!

Is that true???

how can i get a permission to shoot without a SGC and why should i join a club when i will probably not use them more than 10 times in a year.??

any suggestions/advice. My area is covered by Northumbria Police

No that is not correct, you do not have to provide the same 'good reason' that you do with Section 1/FAC guns. However during your interview its highly likely that the FEO will ask you what you intend to use the shotgun for, if you were to say "Nothing, i just want one" then you'd be on dodgy ground. Just saying clay pigeon shooting and have the name of the club you intend to go to in your mind, or pest control and the name of the farm/location of the land. You do not have to provide evidence of either

you need some where to use the gun you want but you dont need to join a club to get a sgc nothing in law to say that but they will ask you on your vist why you want a gun for so all you say is clay shooting and then your looking at geting in to pest control hope that helps ....swiss
