steve_b_wales
Hi Tom. I use a Cobra Merlin with day scope adaptor. It's not the cheapest, but is certainly good quality. For extra IR light, I use a scope mounted lamp with IR filter. This allows me to see out to around 250+ yards. The Cobra must be used with a parallax adjustable scope for best results. I have just ordered an N1000 laser illuminator to use with the Cobra, which should lighten the load I have to carry. Any questions, just pm me. Steve. bennyblanco
If you have bought a 10x 3200 you are ******** You will need a scope with adjustable focus I use a D121 gen2 monocular and a 90mw laser illuminator, I agree with Steve that the merlins are excellent as long as you have good illumination. bennyblanco
i have baught a ziess 3-15x56 will this be ok? As long as it has an adjustable objective or side wheel focus, I can't find your scope on the net-have you got a link?

artschool
tomm, you are going to have to look at a forward mounted nv unit like the atn pv22 or pv40
steve_b_wales
http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/114b0e6655http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/114b0e6655979a3473544326/Carl+Zeiss+Victory+Diavari+3-12x56/979a3473544326/Carl+Zeiss+Victory+Diavari+3-12x56/, its not got paralaz or a side wheel. You will need a scope that is parallax adjustable. When using the Cobra or similar, you need this to fine tune the focus and see the reticule clearly. You could use it without a PA scope, but the reticule would be harder to focus on. When using my Cobra, I actually change the scope from my S&B Zenith, to a Hawke with PA. It's used on my .243. Tomm
what are the front mounted scopes like? are they less clear?
steve_b_wales
what are the front mounted scopes like? are they less clear? Getting a front mounted NV monucular will cost big money, but would do the job. I'm going to look at the new NiteSite Nv camera soon, and will have a demonstration of it fitted to my .243/Zenith. This set up will work on any scope, and can also be used in daylight. The only thing I can see 'wrong' with it, is the light that's thrown back from the monitor, but there's probably a way to lessen it.
Matt Gould
ive had a cobra merlin and pulsar challenger. the pulsar the gives a better image than the cobra but the cobra is better built the pulsar challenger is perfect on a .22lr/WMR/ or a .17hmr. both units you will need a extra ir source either a lamp with ir filter paper (deben tracer mini is good for this) or alternativley a ir laser, and the n100 ajustable power is one of the best (gen 1 use) which will cost about 145 quid, with the pulsar challenger n1000 bushnell legend 5-15x40ao scope and a .17hmr i can kill bunnies to 150yards. hope this helps. what price you looking to spend up to a frount mounted one will cost you about 2 grand + and thats for a gen
