Salop Matt
Excellent day there ! So what gun, chokes and carts were you using and what decoy gear were you using ?
Guest
At the time was using a Baikal o/u which i still sometimes use but mainly shoot with a Beretta a303 now for pigeons. Cartridges were Eley Firsts 28g 7 1/2's. Can't quite remember decoys but certainly would've had the rotary going and at least a dozen flocked shells out and then continued to add to the pattern with dead birds on cradles. When i run out of cradles i like to prop some pigeons necks up using standard green garden sticks. More than likely had a dead bird out on a floater too! Hopefully going on the rape again this Thursday be sure to look out for the pics!
Guest
Chokes in that gun are 1/4 & 1/2. In my Beretta auto use a 1/2 choke mainly but also have 3/4 and full...

cant hit rabbits 123
Eley firsts you say? Did they kill most out right? What sort of distance did you set as yout limit?
Guest
They're a good cartridge and do kill pigeons cleanly but regardless of what cartridge you use if your not quite on 'em you'll wing it rather than dispatch it cleanly in the air. They do give me good confidence to take longer shots and combined with a 1/2 choke i feel comfortable shooting out to about 40yrds but have killed some birds that would make Digweed proud! Merlin64
I would love to shoot as many , my best day was 28 but I think it should have been nearer 75 as my shooting was not good . But still an unforgettable day ! Well done .
yickdaz
they will do the job but i personally don,t feel comfortable taking birds at 40 yards with 7.5s and remember we don,t all have the ability of george digweed
