PeterW
Hi We live next door to a small dairy farm where a large number of very noisy rooks seem to spend the day in a tree very close to our house. They do not nest in these trees, however they are there for most of the day making very intrusive noise. The farmer is not interested in them as they cause him no real problems. What actions can I take to get rid of the rooks?

peck
Invest in a catapult and fire some missiles into the trees, just as long as its SAFE to do so. just the clatter of something hitting the branches should be enough to scare them away. digger
you could get used to the sounds of living in the countryside ? if they arent nesting in the trees then the noise will go as the young birds learn to fend for themselves and seperate from their parents. intrusive bird noises ? rmfaol
Theskyfox
Just a little tip....its quite noisy and ive found it effective....get your air rifle and put some of those cotton wool cleaning pellets in. Take your silencer off....its like dry firing, but without the risk of any damage and its very very noisy without a silencer on! Fire one of those off in that direction (ideally without being seen so that noone can accuse u of using it on them properly) and it should scare them off for a while. Otherwise get a catapault -Andrew
reefman
Buy a rope of crow scarers, only remember to put a bucket of water under them this time of year.
Cranfield
As digger said, rooks and jackdaws are very noisy at the moment, with all the young birds about. Things will quieten down again soon. If you do want a chance at thinning them out, it would be sensible to approach the farmer if they are on his land and ask his permission. Near houses using a shotgun is not a good idea, as you could end up making more noise than the rooks.
