robborobbo
The plan is to get up early and walk my permissions with a friend on Saturday. Mainly barley & grazing fields, there is some woods on one also. Shall I expect to see much on open fields? Cheers

Scully
I doubt you'll see much on 'open fields' if it's winter barley, apart from a squatting hare perhaps. If you do see anything, you can guarantee it will have seen you first. If sheep are 'grazing' then you wont see much where they are either.Your best bet would be to walk quietly with guns on each side of any hedgerows you encounter, not letting your dogs get too far ahead. As for the woods, you could spread out and walk quietly through them,or alternatively have some guns blanking off the wood while the others walk through it towards them,so long as you know where each person will be and you make sure there is plenty of sky around anything before you shoot at it.You should decide upon some basic rules before you set off;avoids those awkward moments when someone has shot a rabbit about 3 feet in front of someone else! Apart from that, enjoy yourselves.Good shooting, good company, good craic and a couple of good dogs...what more do you want!
