Any way of finding out how old a gun is?

Hi

I have bought 2 guns from an elderly gent who is giving up his SGC.

One of the guns is a J Graham & Co of Inverness 12G Side by Side with ejectors.

This is a stunning gun which has been rebarrelled at some point in its life by Alex Martin Ltd of Aberdeen.

The previous owner of the gun inherited this gun 10 years ago from an uncle and doesnt know any history.

J Graham & Co suffered a fire years ago apperently with all old records destroyed so a dead end there.

Does anybody have any idea where to find out the approx age of the gun?

Thanks Craig

Some serial number data for John Graham has been published (British Gunmakers, vol. 3 by Nigel Brown). The numbers cover a wide date range and won't tie your gun down a specific year. What's your serial number? Unfortunately, the proof marks will only tell you the date at which it was re-barrelled. Can you post some good pictures of the marks on the barrel flats (especially anything that looks like crossed swords with letter(s) and a number)?
