tomhw100
Do I really want to cover my new gun with camp tape? Will it make that much difference when hunting pigeons? NO! If you really want to, get some old cammo net and rap it round your scope and maybe silencer...don't think you really need to though unless you are completely cammo'd up and I mean full suit mask gloves etc what's the point of doing your gun...also one of the main things animals see is movement first and the glare off of your scope. The choice ultimately Is yours though! Edited February 5, 2012 by tomhw100
Guest
Are the face and hands the main thing to cover up?
tomhw100
Are the face and hands the main thing to cover up? I Not so much hands although they obviously move when you mount.. I personally think a mask is a must,I'd never go shooting with out it-other than game obviously.the first things pigeons do when they land is look around below them for any imminent danger...if they see a big white blob looking at them they won't hang around for to long!. In a hide you can get away with it obviously as long as your head is below the hide....I still wear mine though.
P~MX
Yes it will ! If you get the right stuff, I bought a couple of rolls of stretch cloth camo tape from the US, it's reusable and wasable, its Superb stuff but pretty expensive at around £25 per roll But I think it's the job, it's easily put on and taken off, it can stretch well so that it's not too think but the main thing is it's grippy and protects your gun. PM me if you want to know what this stuff is called and I'll find that new roll I have left over.
tomhw100
I've stalked 100's and 100's of pigeons with out it and believe me it doesn't! It's more to do with you skill at stalking and using the natural surroundings as cover so you can get close enough to your quarry to dispatch it humanely obviously cammo is a part of this to. But there is no need to cammo your gun unless you really want to...don't fall in to the trap of thinking just because your guns cammo'd you'll shoot more pigeons it doesn't work like that. Fieldcraft and basic cammo and mask first.

apache
I did a little 'camo' exercise once. Went out shooting bunnies (admittedly with the .22RF). Carried on as normal except I wore my bright yellow with reflective strips jacket. Shot just as many bunnies that evening as wearing dark green. It's how you do it not what you're wearing. A lot of European hunters have to wear bright orange.
northeastshooter
I airbrushed my logun solo cant complain about the results takes the glare off and helps hide any little movements personly think its worth it as long as ur camoed up fully to
bullet boy
I personally don't like Camo Tape!If your gonna get it camoed then do it properly!Either Hydrographics or Dip-it.Both these companies do a superb job dipping your guns and gear! mad1
Something to bear in mind is if you tape it is that it will hold moisture and possibly cause rusting etc But saying that I have my silencers taped on my lr mainly to protect it from scratches ( I change it every time I get it wet after cleaning and oiling ) :yp: I think mine was advertised as a elastic dog bandage something like petflex
