Country Boy
Hiya all, I'm keen to get out, we are waiting now for any flattened barley or wheat, but better still - swathed rape, which I think is a couple of weeks away yet and of course after all that, any stubble not under the plough!!! Phew - can't wait!!!! Cheers, CB:}
big simmo999
Me too - they normally do the rape from the middle of july up here. Done plenty of miles in the last few weeks trying to find a decent number off birds - without much luck:( Seen birds - but nothing worth decoying. Roll on the next few weeks (and hope they can'y plough for a few weeks after!)
Country Boy
I have been talking to a farmer today who has previously cut (swathed) his oilseed rape, but this year he is going to desicate it (spray it with round-up) which means we will not be able to get onto the field until they have combined it. Apparently it is the cheaper of the two options and he says more will be opting for that method, so there won't be as many shooting days available. Just have to wait for the stubble! It is a bit early yet but it has been dry for a few days now and the forecast is pretty good with just a few showers so if the rapes ready to be cut then the weather is favourable for it . I'll have a look and will post and let you guys know what's going on. Cheers Aubs
