stuey
I help run a small clay pigeon club. Ten of us with 2 electric traps and a few manual traps. Normally shoot every other morning. We load up the gear from the farm where we are based and drive to the field where we shoot, and set up the gear. Field is flat and only a few patches of trees to use as contours. Usually shooting from 10 til 12 with about 50 tagrets each - either sporting or trap. Thinking of opening it up to a few guests and wondering how much people would pay for such a set up. We shoot more for the banter and keeping our eye in for the game season, so nothing too serious!!! cheers Stu
deershooter
Charging customers brings in things like health and safety ,insurance public liability and planning permission for more than 28 shoots a year    Deershooter
stuey
we have a section 11 and suitable insurance. Not really taking customers, but more if we invite someone how much is a fair price to charge them to cover their mornings sport?

bedwards1966
for 50 target between 7-£10 or thereabouts is about right for what you've described
shaun4860
Hi Stu, How much do your members pay? if no membership fee then charge them the same as you. We get a few non members per month, we dont aim to attract large numbers of them as we are restricted time wise As you know i also help run a small club (30 members) 99% auto traps including dedicated Skeet/ABT/DTL layouts We normally have between 7-15 turn up on a Sunday, but we can shoot every Sunday between 10 and 12.30 We pay £6 each to shoot 50, non members pay £9. we aim to cover our costs (clays/ins./rates/rent) We also pay yearly subs of £60 and sell cartridges at cost. Bebside is different again but we are only very slightly more expensive but they also only shoot fortnightly, but every wed. night in the summer We have a lot more outgoings than you do but we still think we are good value as we invested a lot of time and money into our setup Hope it helped Edited February 12, 2012 by shaun4860
Salopian
£62 a year give them 12 copies of the Daily Sport, nothing else and call yourself the CPSA   Seriously you just need to divi the costs of what it costs for rent, insurance and clays. I would guess about £7 for 50. The important thing to do is, share the workload, but most of all be safe and enjoy yourselves. We are a long time dead. It's £52 a year for elderly people and £62 for the others, too many score fiddlers for me though. I do agree with the safety bit and we are definitely a long time dead
Kermit the frog
With standard black clays at nearly £60 per 1000 including vat, £14 per 100 retail sounds a bit low to me, when you add up all the other costs, insurance, rent, maintenance etc. The committee has a duty of care, and I think you should be carefull not to cut any corners! kermit
BlaserF3
Crabtree Farm, a popular shoot near me charges £9 for 50 clays, Blackpool Sporting Clays charges £12 for 50. If you price it somewhere in the middle I'm sure it will keep everyone reasonably happy.
Salopian
Kermit, we are talking about maybe a dozen friends meeting in a field at a DIY shoot. £60 per 1000 divided by ten equals £6 a hundred clays. Fifty clays equals £3. £7 entry fee for 50 clays equals £4 profit to contribute to ground rent and insurance. Of course they could always charge £28 to £35 per hundred judging by some of the grounds that are springing up. They only need to set up 10 stands ( seven with broken traps) and put a shed in the field, they won't need toilets, warm food and drink and markers over the age of fourteen.
