cloudwalker
I have an original Pigeon magnet (4 bird version). I am looking to replace the motor as I get through 3 or 4 batteries per day out. Does anyone know what type of wiper motor I need? I want to be able to just bolt it on. Thanks. deny essex
Only someone that has one may know but most are unmarked as such. The magnets manufacturers are the best bet. What AH (amp hour) batteries are you using ? And do you know what current is being drawn on the magnet when loaded ? As an average wiper motors use 2 amp per hour with a 2 bird rig. I am using 17amp batteries but the motor is worn out and is using a lot of current. I usually use the long arms with the barley arm extensions but this means the batteries are draining really quick and then not holding a decent charge after charging. Unfortunately I cant remember who supplied the original magnet. I have a feeling the 2 partners split up and then each set up their own pigeon shooting businesses. I thought they were Ford wiper motors but am not sure which model.

Useing 3 to 4 17 amp hour batteries a day is one lot of amps being drawn , the motor should be cooking and if you use a normal speed controler that should be blowing fuses or fried! The magnet would be useing in excess of 8 amps per hour in an 8 hour session ! Not being awkward just trying to fathom things out, with that info I would get the batteries checked out or try a friends known good one. If all that checks out with a known good battery then all it can be is the motor.

There is a good chance it is a Ford motor, take the unit off and have a look for any stickers or casting marks, scratch off the paint, FoMoCo is the id mark you need. Most of the pcd’s are the same, I have built a few and they come up the same. The main difference is the depth from the face to the spindle. Personally I would take it with me and go to a breakers yard with a few spanners and find one, then buy a second one, take off 2 of the arms and go shoot some pigeons…… TEH
