before starting the vid i just want a gun with that wood on it

Sadly it would be the synthetic version... the wood is nice but I couldn't bring myself to pay over a thousand quid extra for a bit of nice wood!

A good friend of mine bought one (an R8 and he is also a member on here) and just did not get along with his - he ended up changing it for an M595 after three months...although I think he still yearns for the old mannlicher he had before!

They are well built and feel nice but my friend just didn't get along with his....

Someone please talk me out of it!!

I used to help a guy taking out continental clients out stalking in the Dumfries area. Quite a few had these R8 blasers, the boss said that he had numerous clients over the years with R8's completely fall apart or parts break. Other than that they seem quite badly built.

I would go for a custom personally as factory rifles just aren't as top quality even the expensive ones, look up brock and norris his customs are awesome quality. Other than that a shultz&larsen or a sauer.

Must have been an R93 as the R8's haven't been out that long 2010 I think?)

Think I'd be happy just to go hunting somewhere like that!

Right... mind made up, I'm saving up for one... may take me a year but I'll get there, was gonna get a quad but I'll just use my legs for a bit longer!!!!

Edit.... If I'm saving up and going without the quad, I might even be temped to stump up the extra cash for the wood!

I had a shot of a friend blaser,(think it was an r93). He took the gun out of its case, clicked the scope on and everything. I had never used the gun before but put 2 shot in fading light within 1cm of each other with factory ammo at 100 yards. He then gave my younger brother a shot and he hit the bull as well. Wouldn't have believed you could stick a scope on a gun as quick as that and it was still very accurate!

Would love one but I just don't do the volume of stalking that would even justify saving for one.
