Ally223
I am using a Swarovski 6x42 fixed mag at the moment on my 223 Fox rifle and 90 percent of my shooting is with the lamp. Thinking about an upgrade and wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with these Leupold scopes and what would be a good option. http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/604b192282bd0f8383828609/Leupold+VX-3L+4-a-8-f-35-14x50+illuminated/ http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/314b19205de1c1b637176520/Leupold+VX-3L+3-a-8-f-35-10x50+illuminated/

Personally I would look at the S&B 8x56.This scope is simply superb and I cannot recommend it enough it's that good! R MacLeods of Tain sell quality secondhand scopes plus they are an excellent company with excellent customer service too!
Ally223
Cheers guys, I kind of like how these Leupold scopes mount nice and snug to the barrel. Don't know if the illumination is of much benefit and wouldn't wont to go any higher than the 6x42.

Great scopes. Next on my list to get. Cheers guys, I kind of like how these Leupold scopes mount nice and snug to the barrel. The penalty will generally be weight, size and maybee clarity. You will catagorically not get a brighter scope than 6x42 in quality glass it is as good as it gets for the human eye. Although my main foxing gun has a 50mm variable S+Bender ontop i have only wound it up once in the past decade, most of the time its on 7X and that one time was in daylight to shoot a long range fox that was poing his head out the heather

Just been looking on that Macleod site,How do you make a decision there is a lot of good scopes on there.

Know the feeling, I would choose a Swarovski PV 6-24x50 if they have got one. Same price as the Leupold, and a cracking scope for the money. 2nd hand would be about £800 - £900. Or go for a 3-12x50 Swaro or Schmidt and Bender.

If it ain't broke......... The Swarovski is great glass and personally I think you would be going backward with Leupold, my2cents.

Seconded, although to me a fine reticle & good glass are much more important than higher mag,you may well view it differently. Your spot on, Problem I have is eye sight isn't what it was and when I focus the eye relief on the scope and go out to long range it starts to blur a bit. It isn't a problem with the scope neither as I had a look threw my mates Swarovski 8x50 today and it is superbly clear and the problem is the same.
