tomaddy525
Hi all, i have deccided to invest in a rotary and have seen the UK shoot warehouse ones. The standard is a very reasonable £65, which seems too reasonable. There is also the pro motion one for £85, but i cant see what is different between this and the standard. Has anyone got one of these and what is your verdict? Thanks in advance Tom

Will Beasley
the basic one has a three spike footing, comprising of a center spike and 2 more spikes left and right. if you were to stick it in the ground you would be left with an imprint like this * * * The Pro-Motion Rotary features a 4 spike footing and adjustable arm attachment points so you can raise and lower the arms for varying conditions and crops. The Pro-Motion is the most popular of all our range and at the price is super value. I know we're selling it but its a tidy rotor and its what I use, as well as the Optima Rotor from our range. The Optima rotor footing goes into even the hardest of ground with incredible ease, so no more pouring your coffee on the soil to de-frost it in winter/summer. Yes, I use one of these, they are an excellent bit of kit at a reasonable price, absolutely essential when shooting over Winter rape. Cat. Sprackles
finreid, after a few teething problems its now running ok. It is bulky and I have to carry it in a separate bag and also the battery I bought for it, 17AH, weighs quite a bit so the combined package adds to the total weight of kit considerably but then I supposes its the same for all rotarys. Now its running its fine. To give you the heads up on what I consider good and bad and the problems I will explain. There are no clear assembly instructions but its not too hard to work it out. Once assembled it was rattling inside but as it worked when I tested it, it didnt seem too much of a problem. When I took it out in the field, after having lugged it across the field and it swinging around in my bag, I could not get it to work at first and also the remote controller that came with it didnt seem to work. I had to jiggle the battery around to get it to do its job. Once home, I undid the box which wasnt difficult and found the motor was attached to the gearbox by four threaded bolts. 2 were loose and the other 2 were rattling inside. Easy enough to reassemble. The remote too was an easy fix, just got rid of the Chinese battery and replaced it with a duracell one....note this is actually a 12v jobby and not the more familiar 1.5 volt with these small round batteries. Since all of this I have had no problems. The remote is useful if you like to play with speeds but to be honest, the fastest speed on it is not quite as fast as my mates fixed speed rotary and I have never run it slower than full speed. Also if you lose the remote in the field you are up the creek. If I had to have a speed controller I would go for the button control rather than the remote again. When you look at the package price, its fair for what you get as the unit itself, once sorted is robust and easily fixes into the ground with no movement afterwards. I might just have been unlucky but now its sorted, i'm happy with what I have for the money I paid.
