s.stimson
I’m interested to know do those that use army surplus netting double it over to make it a little less see through or are you using a single ply and camo cloths? Or are most people now using these modern realtree pattern leaf blind if so what pattern’s are you using and where can you get it cheaply? I do fancy using something that would take up less room than the old MOD stuff. Simon.
Rob G
This time of year i will try and use natural material to make my hide.I have one of the old camo nets made of hessian which is heavy but i find it blends in better than the new light weight ones.Im having a go at making my own at the moment.I've got a piece of hessian which im dyeing different shades of brown and green,

Cranfield
I,ve seen these "pop-up" hides at a BassPro shop. The main snags are, that they need fairly level ground and they are only just over 3ft. high. I,m 5ft - 9ins tall (about average), when sitting on the ground, there is still over 3ft of me sticking up in the air. You could get round this by wearing all over cammo clothing, but then why would you need the hide. I use as much natural stuff as possible in the Spring and Summer and "ex Army" single thickness, the rest of the year. You can always buy extra cammo scrim, to fill in the "open" parts of your net. The Sniper
S Stimson, Well ,heres my two pennorth on hide material. I have an old army camo net ,that I have taken half the scrim off ,to give me lots of big holes to look through. I use it single thickness only and add scraps of natural vegetation nearby if I can. My theory is that the hide is not really that important, it is movement that you are trying to cover up. I usually wear dark or cammo clothing which also helps to break up your outline. I have proved this theory to myself when I have not used a hide ( and as long as you cover up the shiny bits on the gun) and have had the cammo clothes on, you can sit under a tree or whatever and the birds will still come into the decoys.....as long as you KEEP STILL.
