Whitebridges
Hello folks, had an enjoyable wander round Pensthorpe the other day. Well worth a visit is you are about this way. Trying to improve my photography. Took a lot of shots and these couple were amongst the better ones. I spend a bit of time on this Curlew. Correct me if i'm wrong but once upon a time you could shoot these and i'm told they taste pretty good? Never done either. I am a mug. I took notes of the birds I photographed and have mislaid the paperwork. Any how this is a teal (sp). If anyone can tell me it's full name i'd be grateful. Thanks. Curlew were added to the protected list in Northern Ireland last year - you can still shoot Golden Plover [if you want to that is]. Both are I think protected in GB. Before the ban in NI came in, we did try to eat a curlew - tough as old boots and completely tasteless, so I think you are far better off continuing to take excellent photos of them. Thanks Wildfowler 12 for the ID on the Puna Teal. I see it is ringed and assume it is an import to Pensthorpe'd wildfowl collection rather than a rarish visitor. Wildfowler12
No problem both of these pictures are great. Golden Plover are still on the quarry list, it's grey plover that are protected.

I'm not sure how much more you need to improve your photography - I've just got out my Collins Birds Guide and your pictures are better than the ones in my copy. Good pictures! It's nice to be able to enjoy wildfowl on the pond as well as on the plate Obviously just legal quarry species before someone jumps on me! I was quite pleased with these pictures but it's a bit like my shooting, in and out and could do better. Have a great day day at the next Norfolk clay feist. I will miss seeing you and the other buoys and the nice little boozer afterwards. Kind Regards.

Oh right, thanks for the tasting notes, and praise of my amateur shots. They are such lovely birds, we are lucky to be able to view them on our local marshes. Yes, it's in the collection. Will have a look in my books for records of Puna Teal, if this is any help?
