DrBlox
I've just booked an Easter break for the family and I and one of the planned activities is a day trip, by ferry, to Calais. The last time I was over there (over 20 years ago) I remember seeing boxes and boxes (slabs) of cartridges just 'on the shelf' in a hypermarket (Carrefour, I think). So I have a few questions: 1) Is this still the case? 2) I've been told, by someone at a range not a bloke down the pub, that cartridges in France are around a third of the cost in the UK - is this true? 3) Can I buy them and bring them back in for my own personal use? Presumably I'd have to tell the ferry company and possibly customs on arrival in the UK. Thanks in advance.
Catamong
I think you will find that they are now more expensive in France than here in the UK. I shoot quite a bit in France and the days of cheap ammo over there are long gone. You may need a European Shotgun permit to buy them, and most ferry companies restriction is 1000 shells. Still some bargains to be had if you're a Wine drinker, but that's about it. Cat.
Vince Green
I don't think you will see them in the supermarkets any more. France has tightened up its firearms laws fairly recently but I don't know the detail.
