Skid
OK, so I finally managed to get out and decoy a few pigeons last week after a year away from shooting them.....which was nice. Took the "new" 20b O/U Hushy with me instead of the usual auto and knocked 15 down over a few hours........which was nice (especially considering it shoots at least a foot low at 30 yards). Noticed that there was a bit of rattling inside the moderator which was to be expected with a bit of carbon floating about inside. However, stripped the moderator off later only to find that the drilled barrels had done a superb impersonation of a cheese-grater on the plastic obturator discs fitted underneath the fibre wads in the express carts It had done a really neat job too and produced loads of chunks of plastic about 1/4 inch long so if any one else uses these carts, or any others with obturators, it's probably worth having a clean out once in a while
sitsinhedges
You'll find the gun shoots flat if you tuck the stock under your cheekbone so your head is slightly raised above the normal sightline
retromlc
i've taped two of those rubber comb raiser to the comb, fits nice now, plus taped an 1" pad on the back as they are short too, thinking of selling mine as I don't get out much now, great tool though
Skid
I've tried to experiment with the stock position but to be fair I'm still trying to get my brain used to the weird sight picture presented by looking down a length of thick drain-pipe Well impressed by the killing power of it at range though, good pattern produced by the tight chokes. retromlc
just blank the bird out and don't worry to much about lead,i just give it a little more. I also, because of the tight chokes try to take them out further away.I use 30gr no 5 and have had some craking kills with it,esps good on crows as the noise doesn't warn them too much. That's a fair sized load in a 20 bore. I was knocking pigeons down really cleanly at 35 yards with 24g No 6 and there's virtually no felt recoil. Probably going to go to 5 shot with my subsonic reloads though, bit more energy to disperse per pellet on target......assuming I hit it My sight picture for one of the left to right crossers at 30 yards showed it to be a perfect shot if it was with my semi-auto but I only shot the tail feathers out so I do need to adjust to my eyesight. Also found that with "driven" pigeons I have a subconscious tendency to move the gun to the side because so much of the picture is blocked out by the moderator. Was consistently shooting left hand side of the birds (as seen from below). I'll get used to it eventually
