alfa taf
As per title, I intend to visit relatives in England and would love to be able to do some clay shooting while I am staying. I am not certain how would a non resident be able -be allowed- to do so. I would rather not go trough the avenue of bringing my own guns, not worth the trouble, so,would I be able to use-hire-a gun from a shooting club and be insured just for the day, days,I go shooting? Any information on the above or other useful info would be really helpful. Thank you alfa taf.
HDAV
HI mate just go to a ground (best to book) with a section 11(6) exemption and fill out a form most will suggest you need an instructor or a "group" lesson but if you ring in advanc eor email etc may well be able to set something up where abouts are you visiting? If you have a European firearms pass bring it even if you don't bring your guns Edited March 23, 2012 by HDAV
MartynGT4
If you let us know roughly where you'll be staying, I'm sure someone here will be able to recommend a shooting ground that can help

If you have a European firearms pass bring it even if you don't bring your guns Thank you for such a prompt answer. I dont have a European firearms pass,I suppose I could get one , and dont think I need an instructor as I have been shooting for quite a few years but that would not stop me if I have to ,after all I am certain I could learn something new !! So I suppose the best way for me would be, as you have suggested, to get in touch with a couple of grounds when I have dates. As far as places to visit I will be visiting the North ,Leeds, Stock on Trend , and quite possibly the South. Thanks again alfa taf.
HDAV
Stoke on Trent isnt too far from Doveridge, all the grounds i know, if you dont have a certificate say you need an instructor at least for first visit (some require it for first visit even with a cert) http://www.doveridgeclaysports.co.uk/ In the middle http://www.southerncountiesleisure.com/ South http://www.shootingschool.co.uk/ Near London (heathrow) http://www.bisleyshooting.co.uk/ & http://www.nsc-clays.co.uk/ Near London in Surrey between Heathrow and Gatwick both on same site where there are full bore rifle ranges and lots of shooting stuff. The above are open midweek but check times etc on websites, all do trap skeet and sporting i think. If you can give more towns/cities your vising then more will be about if your looking for midweek and a range of options then the choice of grounds is fewer.
