codit75
I have enougth funds to buy a NEW gun either a Berretta silver pigeon 1 sporter or a Lanber sporter deluxe. Is the Berretta worth the extra money, I have a Lanber sporter at the moment it's 13 years old. The reason I want to get a NEW gun is that I have the funds now and don't know when I'll have them again. Thanks for your replys Ps I've tyried both and the both fit me very well. Sharpshooter.123
Sounds like it's just going to come down to your personal preference, they are both very nice guns. But I think I'd chose the lanber sporter deluxe
BerettaSV10
Yes the SP1 is a nice gun, I am biased towards beretta's as I feel they are more right for me. Only thing with the SP1's make sure you give the stock several coats of stock oil to help protect it, if you go for it. Some do leak a liquid (prob flux)from the chamber to barrel joint for a few cartridges, one of mine did.
codit75
Thanks for the replys, the main difference is the cost, unless someone can tell me otherwise. Cheers Codit
Sharpshooter.123
They will both shoot the same in the right hands mate, go with what you think suits you most

BerettaSV10
The protection on the stock is very minimal in my my opinion, I myself use the Browning Legia oils. They do a gun oil for the metal work (red tin) and a stock oil (green tin).
codit75
Do you just add the oil to the stock and rub it in!! I've never had to do this to a gun before. Would I have to do it to a new Lanber sporter deluxe. Cheers Codit
BerettaSV10
I just put the stock oil on the stock allowed it to soak in for a few mins and wiped the surplus off and repeated it several times over the weeks, the correct instructions are on the tin. The first few times the oil was soon obsorbed into the stock. As for the lanber guns I don't know what type of finish is on the stock. arjimlad
A drop of oil on the hand - just a drop - then rub it in firmly, the warmth from your hand helps it soak in.
codit75
Well I opted for the Beretta silver pigeon 1 30inch barrels in the end, I collected it today. It's the first new gun that I have owned, what chokes are best to use for clays and pigeon shooting. Should I do anything to he gun before I use it for the first time. BerettaSV10
Is there any packing grease on / in the barrels, if so use gun oil to remove the packing grease. Some guns have a very thin smear of grease while one I bought was flooded with the stuff. just keep the grease and gun oil of the wood work when cleaning the gun. codit75
Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear. It only has a smear of grease, so I'll deal with it before I go out. Cheers Codit
codit75
Well that choke set up worked, I shot my first left and right rook today. Just got to put some stock oil on it now.
