First outing on a new shoot

I just started controlling the bunnies on a shoot which I have been shooting all the land around for the last few years. The farmer had recently cut all the hedge back, and there are a lot of longish stubs sticking up, which I managed to hit a fair few times  or I would have shot at least another five.

Using the HMR and the .22LR the total for evening was 28, with one shot on the way in, another which had danced it's way deep under the blackthorn, and another five shot whilst driving off the farm.

I also shot my truck.

As it is a new shoot the bunnies are not gun/vehicle shy and they just kept coming out.

I was alternating between the HMR and the .22LR, with shots from five yards out to 153 yards.

Most of the bunnies were appearing in front of the truck, which I had tucked into the hedge.

During a quiet spell I glanced in the rear view mirror, and there was a single bunny behind me.

I leant out of the drivers’ window, and shot it left handed with the LR (I spent a lot of time shooting cack handed and I am just as good (bad) either way).

More shots to the front, some to the left, then there were six out behind me.

Unable to reach them leaning through the drivers’ window, I hung out of the passenger window.

The bunny I was aiming at kept inching further into the field, and I was having to hang further out to get in the aim. When it eventually stood still I already had the cross hairs on it, I squeezed the trigger, with a following loud clink. :o

I knew what I had done straight away, and the damage has not chipped the paint work, but there is now a nice groove in the rear down spar.

I'm due out again this evening to hit another warren, or maybe the truck can have some more. :D
