rimfire4969
Shooting ranges in Florida have been mentioned on here a few times, so when i was there with my family over the last couple of weeks i decided to give a range a try with my 11 year old son. I went for Oakridge Gun Range about 20 min drive from the Disney area. On arrival we were greeted in the normal happy Florida way, i explained that we would like to shoot some of the guns not avalible to shoot in the UK. I was asked for a passport or driving licence and then to pick a gun. We started with a 9mm Beretta 8 shot semi auto pistol. We were told what lane we to shoot in, given eye and ear protection and shown the way to the range fully air conditioned thank goodness, with only one other shooter using one of the seven lanes we were nextdoor to him. We shot our way through a box (50) ammo, then decided to change the pistol. I went and came back with a Beretta 92 again in 9mm but with a 15 shot mag, we let lose again at the zombie target Lewis had chosen. Next we went for a .45 semi auto rifle moved the target further away and let fly. Next on the list we a Colt 1911 in .45, I am told its the same as the one in Black Opps on the ps3 that Lewis plays. Heading back in the range the guy in the next lane starts chatting about the 1911 and offers us a go with his work gun a Glock 23 in 9mm and his off duty weapon a tricked up Ruger in .30, i offer to pay for the ammo we were getting through with his guns but was told he gets it through work for nothing, turns out he is a customs officer. After Lewis and I got through a few boxes of each i thought it was about time to give him his guns back. So onto the 1911, i have always wanted a blast with one and was not disapointed and managed another box on .45 a great way of spending a few hours in Florida and will be going back to Oakridge. COST: Range $12.00 Extra Shooter $10.00 Gun rental $20.00 9mm Ammo (box/50) $16.98 .45 Ammo (box/50) $24.98 Zombie Targets $1.75 each Total was $118.14 inc tax, just under £75.00 Great value i think. A short clip of Lewis with the Colt 1911. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw47h2J8ua0
mr who?
Sounds like you had a great time mate . I always have a few half days on the range whenever I'm over there . Overall , a fairly cheap way to spend a half day as well! Last year I finished off the range session firing a few boxes of 12 G through a pistol gripped shotgun , no shoulder stock , and fitted with another pistol grip on the pump action . The whole gun must had been all of 20inchs! Really let's you see how the other half live eh? Glad you had a wicked time mate . All the very best fellas . Andy .
