Making a Wooden Gun Case

Want to make a wooden gun carry case for my X20 Suppressor, want to include a small box in the corner to hold pellets ect (image of pellet box attatched).

First of all im not sure what wood to use, i need strong but light wood preferably. Second i have no clue were to pick up some egg foam to line the inside. Any ideas for clips/locks. I hope to varnish it and water proof it, but i have no idea how to start the actual design.

Many thanks

Jack.

So cut a block in half, wouldn't i then have to make a recess into each block though to fit the foam and gun in? Sorry if i misinterpreted what you said, i'm new to this whole carpentry thing :S

Jack

yes, you misinterpreted. What he meant was make the sides, install the top and bottom to make a complete box, then cut it in half lengthways to form the top and bottom of the box, that way you get a perfect fit between the two.
