Jellyben
Hi Have just purchased my first gun, a beretta S686 special, I am told by the gunshop that this is good starting gun and should last me a lifetime, your comments would be nice. I hope I have made the right choice.

Baldrick
A fine purchase - it will last you for donkey's years. I used to shoot one, and it never let me down.
Pedro
I've got one too. Myself and a mate have put loads of shells through it on clays and I use it for rough shooting and decoying. A top bit of kit. It's never let me down and has worked in all conditions. My mate was so impressed, he's bought a 687, (he doesn't like killing things, so just shoots clays). A lot of threads on here have praised it and I haven't seen too many negative ones. A good buy P.
Dunkield
Most shooting schools use them, and very few guns get more of a hmmering than those 5-6 days a week, so that should tell you lot. I started with one, and then bought a 687 as I found the 686 a little bit too light (it was 28" and the 687 is a 30") - so opposite to Karl H
