Sco77w
I fancy having a go at DTL. Can I use my old 686 Onyx? I know it's all about knowing where your gun shoots but would it be a case of me missing loads and being put off. I know of people shooting everything with trap guns, but their main discipline is trap. I just wondered if it workred the other way round or am I going to have to get a trap gun (dont tell the Mrs)
EdSolomons
Yep youl be fine mate. Unless you plan on shooting nothing but trap stick to the gun you know and learn the discipline befor ethinking of swapping guns
TrapFiller
You'll be fine. Just put tighter chokes in such as 1/2-3/4 or 3/4-full and you'll be fine as long as the gun is in the right place. Also people with discipline specific guns tend to shoot that discipline more often, thats just my opinion though.

HDAV
LOL I've shot DTL with a SxS! sporter is no issue trap guns tend to be heavier to reduce recoil and muzzle flip for a quick second shot, Also shot it with 1/4 & 3/8 chokes..... Cheers HDAV, I'm deffo having a go next week. A while back I had a couple of shots with a trap gun and thought it was quite easy compared to sporting. I thought it could be a bit of a confidence booster.
Ratman2
You'll do fine with your gun mate, the only problem you will have is nodding off between shots. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

richg
DTL is easy peasy. Let me know when you shoot your first 100 x 300. I may be dead by then though. Those who knock DTL have never learned the art of total focus and concentration, vital for big scores. Once you know how to switch this on and off at will and make it work for you, DTL becomes addictive. And yes you can shoot it with a sporter as long as its 30" with a bit of choke, 1/4-1/2 or better. Shoot lots and enjoy. Rich g
fishingpip
All previous advise is good, what I do is to slightly raise my head off the stock (seeing more rib)works more like a trap gun.
cant hit rabbits 123
I shoot DTL with a 686 black Onyx Just fine. Granted my scores are never super impresive but I only do it once a month if that. I just load the barrel with 1/2 choke in, saving me from the second shot temptation.
