MrGray
Hello all! First post on your forum, I’m looking to add a section 1 SG onto my ticket for PSG, I have some questions the variation seems more involved than rifles. As well as my local club I intend on using the SG at another club do I also need to put down all the clubs on my variation form? When it comes to “purchase/ acquire type” do you just state shotgun? What’s the correct format when requesting types of 12g ammunition? Birdshot / Slug etc. I may wish to use the SG for clays do I also need to put this on my variation. Apologies if there stupid questions, I just want to make sure I complete the form correctly first time without sending it back and forth. Thanks. apache
I have a FAC Shotgun for vermin control. You would need to list slugs if you want them but no reason to add standard shotgun cartridges onto your FAC. If you want to use it for clays check, it is supposed to be an 'automatic condition' once it is granted but I has to ask for it to be added to mine. I just put 'FAC Shotgun' in the purchase box. steve_b_wales
As stated, no neet to mention about cartridges, unless you intend using slug. Also, no need to mention what type of shotgun you want is, pump/semi-auto. I have an 8 shot semi-auto which is used for crop protection. Steve. MiLisCer
Staffordshire want you to specify "Multi-shot" shotgun - plus if you want slug then you need to ask for slug - I asked for "lots" and only got 100 buy 120 hold. Mike

Not sure about asking for slugs although they maybe required on some PSG shoots.. I can understand why plod like to keep the numbers down. You might as well ask for slugs, as you are at a club (or clubs) you should get them without difficulty, so just add them. If you don't you'll only have the hassle of a variation if you find you need them, so save yourself the hassle now. I can't give any idea on how many to ask for though, if nobody on here can advise you could ring your FEO, I haven't a clue what amounts they will allow or what you'll need. Breastman
All good advice When it comes to slugs and sometimes even just the S1 shotgun plod might want you to go on the UKPSA Basic Safety Course, which is a bit of a chicken/egg situation if you don't already have an SGC shotgun to do the course with If this is the case contact the UKPSA via their website and get your name put on the mailing list for the basic course, they should also be able to sort you out with a S2 shotgun. The next course is 28/29th April at Crocketford and Carlisle, but thats probably a bit short notice!! When it comes to slug amount ask for 250/300. Slug only matches are becoming more common now and you can need up to 150 for the whole match, so you need to factor in misses and reshoots. Good luck and ATB Mark
