Godstone rough shoot

Recommended Posts

Evening all

I thought I would share my experience with the above.

A friend and I booked to go to this shoot yesterday. I spoke to Phil the keeper and he sent me the forms with maps of the 2 permissions. It cost £50 for the pair of us and that meant we had a full 24 hours if we wanted. We turned up at about 7am yesterday and although there wasn't much flying around we had a cracking day the areas for shooting are 100acres and 40 acres both 5 minutes drive of each other. We spent most of the day at the larger site which had 7 fields and a very small wood. There were bunnies everywhere and I thought the place would be overshot and everything would naff off as soon as it caught site of us but this wasn't the case and we bagged quite a few throughout the day. Being grass fields the decoying was poor but after driving to the next area and the shops for some lunch we noticed that nothing was flying around so I think it was just one of those days.

All in all for the price of a days fishing I think it was worth it. Would I go if I had my own permission? No, but I don't so I will definitely go there again

If anyone wants the guys number send me a pm and please mention Dan Thompson if you call him as when I book again he might throw me a bone as I want to take a couple of extra guys, he seems strict about just 2 at a time though.

The smaller permission by the way is 40 acres and is half field half wood saw a we pheasants here (out of season I know so no shots fired) also spooked a nice Roe Doe from cover. Spooked me more as I wasn't expecting anything big to pop out

Both the sites are situated just off junction 6 the m25 and if like me you are on there every day you will have looked in the fields many times.

All the best.

Dan

Ps if anyone on here is interested in doing something similar with there permissions for similar costs and not too far from the above then let me know as we would love to try other places and have come to the conclusion that were going to have to pay for the privilege for the foreseeable future at least.
