huffhuff
Indeed it is. Amazing food and fantastic experience. I'd highly recommend to anybody (just don't think about the cost and enjoy yourself). The service is great, the wine accompaniment tops and the general atmosphere/theatre of it all will leave you in awe. Sounds silly saying that about food I know - but you'll see what I mean. I'm assuming you're going for the taster menu? Get the wine accompaniment (we went with the middle priced wine). If you treat the sommelier with respect and thanks... He may even top you up a few extra times. Don't go in there with a pretentious, stuck up hat on. The sake is mmmmmmm. The cheeses at the end are something else (at a price mind...) I'd love to know your experience so write it up once you're back. Now I have to admit, I got proper sloshed and even stopped for KFC on the way home. Sacrilege I know. Beardo
Ooh yeah forgot about the cheeses they were divine. The salted caramel ice cream was great as well.
Thedeerman
I'll report back when I've been then. My favourite place to date has to be St John in Smithfield. The roast bone marrow is to die for!
Thedeerman
Well, Just got in fro going to 'Dinner'. The food was great. I had the Meat fruit to start. This was chicken liver pate coated in a mandarin jelly, shaped to look like a very realistic mandarin complete with leaves. The pate was great and came with very nice toasted bread. This was followed by Spiced pigeon with artichokes and ale. The pigeon was perfectly cooked, nice and pink and the accompanying artichokes and onions were superb. For desert I had Tipsy cake, which has to be ordered 30 minuites in advance. This was spit roased pineapple cooked on an open fire in the kitchen, with a lovely sponge with sugar syrup with crystal sugar in. All was very good, the service great. BUT, It was very overpriced. I've been to better restaurants and paid a lot less. I had the above, my friend similar and the bill was £156 with a couple of soft drinks. If it didn't have Heston Blumenthal's name on the door, I dont think you'd struggle to get a table at those prices.
