Ticket question about ammo

I need a new HMR barrel for my Sako Quad, 8000~9000 rounds have taken their toll and it's doing 40mm+ groups at fifty yards, discussed in another thread on here. The quad was supplied as a .22lr bolt action rifle with the serial number of the action. The HMR barrel is listed as a 17HMR barrel with the serial number.

When I clear the barrel off to an RFD or plod for destruction, do I also need to clear the 1100 or so rounds of ammo I have for it as I am then not in possession of a 17HMR firearm?

I wouldn't of thought so, you still have authority to own a hmr, and the authority to buy ammunition.

I hope not as I have wmr ammo, and no wmr at the minute, and have sent in a variation with this info on!

I have ammo on my certificate for which I do not have a rifle or a slot and have no intention of getting one. Lots of people who shoot at Bisley do this because their clubs have rifles in the armoury and they can go and draw them when they go down there. You can get ammo only FACs
