killer_pigeon
Puchased a miroku last friday (s/h),still under Browning warranty, got it home same day and took off the butt pad to measure up for a kick-eez one. Noticed a 1 inch crack in the walnut inside as per picture. It hasnt gone through to the outside of stock but its 1mm away from the edge Immediately emailed the shop with a photo and put gun away, I didnt want to risk using it anymore in case the crack got worse. As its still under warranty, shop said they will send it back to Browning and see what they think. I dont really want a repair on my stock but would accept a complete replacemnt stock, so i agreed. Dropped the gun off yesterday and a few hours later they rang to say on site gunsmith had taken a look and said it was a scratch rather then a crack and he had removed some wood from the Butt to see how deep it went Has he invalidated any warrany with Browing by removing wood from the original stock. It looked like a crack to me not a scratch and am worried it not in its original condition and he has altered it. Do i have any consumer rights to ask for my money back and walk away from it now its been tampered with ? I've lost confidence in the gun and the gun shop completely now. thanks
malkiserow
Your first place of recourse is with the shop anyway. They removed the wood not you. Panic not. Do you have any more pictures of the crack?
killer_pigeon
no more pictures of crack, but I did photo the stock from the outside (top and sides) to prove it hant gone right through to the outside.
malkiserow
from what you have shown here..... and with no witness on the stock surfaces, maybe it was just a scratch
HDAV
I didn't think the wood was covered under the warranty anyway? Natural material which does warp/crack/ change over its life? PErhaps you should buy a fake wood gun "topcote" etc
dorianbuilders
The wood on Brownings is covered by the 3year warranty and the action a 10 year warranty.
RAMMER BURT
The wood on Brownings is covered by the 3year warranty and the action a 10 year warranty. Berettas are covered with the same warranty as brownings
ChrisAsh
Scraping away a small part to confirm would seem a sensible thing to do and no way damage the stock further, If it was a crack you would expect in most cases it would run from either the outside or the centre hole edge, so proberbly is a scratch or scribe mark No reason to feel put out by the shops actions, they are most likely far more experienced at this sort of thing than you are
