-Mongrel-
... and insurance for a 18 year old Many Thanks Lee Fiat panda 4x4. Unless you have some serious funds I suspect the insurance will price you out of most other things unfortunately.

Gee.
Comfort and good MPG, your asking too much of a 4x4 They guys are right, insurance will be a killer mate. Look at the Panda or a Jimny. Edited May 22, 2012 by Gee.
12borejimbo
Jimny 1.3 or a Vitara 1.6 Im 24 and have a Ford Ranger double cab pickup which is a great truck now its got mud tyres on, but my insurance is £454 with 6 years no claims! Stick with something small, Suzuki SJ410 are good as they are light and only have a 1.0 litre engine in, or get an 413 as it has a 1.3 engine. Great jeeps though as they are very light. Or a Daihatsu Sportrak. 1.
pboro shot
old landrover pick up then put it on classic insurance if the insurance is a issue but mpg and comfort will be
bedwards1966
Before you even consider what you might like and what may be ideal, get some insurance quotes. Unless you have very deep pockets available you might find that anything other than a Panda/Jimney/Vitara is beyond reach. Insurers really know how to charge young people. Every 'classic' car insurer I've looked at won't cover people until they are 25, sometimes if you are lucky it can be 21, so you're unlikely to be able to benefit from any such policy on something like an old LR.
