Frank
One thing about the .223 in Tikka T3 is the twist rate, 1 in 8. Most folks iv talked to are having some problems firing light bullets threw them. They sem to do best with bullet waights from 55gr upwards. The old Tikka 595 would be the better choice, thats if you can get hold of one. Mry, well said. Frank.
deadeye ive
If you want a 222 or 223 then you should be looking at makers that manufacture a suitable sized action for that round. Sako, CZ, Zastava (now sold under the Remington name), RWS etc. It will not include Howa, Remington 700, Tikka, Ruger, Winchester, Browning etc. Techno stuff is'nt a strong point of mine Mry ............can you explain ........I have the 595 and the action looks suitable to me Good point Frank ,Forgot about them(.223 range) being only 1 in 8 twist ......... Mike ,a faster twist suits a heavier bullet ........The slower 1 in 12 will allow you to experiment with lighter grains 55 and below
mry716
Most manufacturers make an action suitable for the 308 size cartridge, the 30-06 and the Magnums they do not make one for the 223 size. This means they use a 308 action for a 223 and the mag need a spacer and the bolt travels 1/2" more than it need to. It is usually also 1/2lb heavier than required. SAKO make 4 sizes of action as do others so they have an action of the correct length for the 223 and of a lighter weight and overall smaller size - Far nicer! dunganick
for example Howa/weatherby guns Means the bolt has alot of travel which is not required
