discodog
Hi, Last season a friend of mine told me he had put down some wild Turkeys on his syndicate shoot. I have been unable to find any information on them whatsoever eg. legality, suppliers, seasons. Unfortunatly the gun that told me has now moved on. Has anyone else heard about these birds? scolopax
Illegal, but if you were to say to utilise a release pen for fattening up some poults for meat, and they escaped, then it would be your moral duty to shoot them (we grew quite attached to ours )

markbjones01
I shot quite a few when i used to live in New Zealand and can honestly say they were as tough as old boots and would prefer to eat cannada goose than them !!
reggiegun
We put some down last season, American Black flying turkeys. They eat shed loads of feed, hog the feeders from the pheasants and fly just about. I had a night mare with them. Come end of season one roamed and for some reason a lot of pheasant followed it of our land. Would may be ok if you could drive them of high bank with guns below, but I would not bother again. trapperdan
yep turkeys aint meant for driven shooting ! they make excellant birds for stalking ,if they are WILD, but newly released birds ? wild turkeys have the best eyesight, as good as an eagle, they say.which makes them a challenge to stalk. very popular game bird in N America. And yet they look like the easiest bird to shoot. Looks like fish in a barrel tbh
