halight
hi im looking to buy my son his first riffle.he likes semi auto and bolt action.can anyone advise on the best to go for . advice appreciated regards.thanks.... Hi Mate, Welcome to the forum. We could do with some more info about your son. Like, His age,What sort of things he would like to start shooting, Also how much money are you willing to spend. The AA S200 are very well suited for the starter and the long timers I the sport. If money is tight then SMK do some cheep co2 rifles but most of them i believe are signal shot. You can find some good second hand rifles about too. Buying second hand will get you more Gun for your money. Also don't forget you will need to buy a Gun slip (For keeping it in) Sights, pellets. And depending on what sort of Air rifle you buy you may need to buy something to charge it with air, Most use a divers tank. But Many use a food pump for charging there rifle. Also dont forget to get some targets, Your Lad will wont to have use his new rifle loads when he first gets it so lots of targets for him to get use to his new rifle in the Garden. Best thing to do is find out your local Air Rifle dealer. Go along there and have a good chat to the guys there. Get your son to try a few rifles out there for the weight. Some maybe to heavy for him to use. There is no need to buy from them, Shop about a bit first, And the Gun he likes you might be able to pick a second hand one up. Also if you could find out were your local club or local range is then your Lad will get a lot more fun out of the sport, Also the people there will be able to teach him how to use it right. There is more to it than just pointing and shooting it. :o Also, how about letting your son read some of the threads on here. He can do this with you, and there is know need for him to post anything, You can do all that if there is anything he wont's to ask, This site if full of use full info that both you and your son will get a lot out of. And last, How about buying an air rifle yourself ? You could both learn about shooting and how to do it, together then. Might be Fun ? All the best and i hope you get sorted out and that your Lad enjoys the world of Air Gunning
