rimfire4969
I fancy putting a lift kit on my 110 Defender as i have some realy rough ground and need as much clearance as possible and I think looks good. Anyone recommend me a kit and how tricky are they to fit?
ditchman
however much lift you go for , the fact still remains, your axels are still the same clearance off the ground.....what i did was to get away from the standard size tyre and put bigger tyres on which gave me an extra 3"....downside is that your turning circle is reduced....put a lift kit on and you can carry more mud !! Luckyshot
You can go 2" without any problems anything over that and you "should" change things like wide angle props longer flexie pipes etc. I have just lifted my mates Defender 90 by 2" and it was all done in a day just make sure you have some heat available as some of the bolts were tight as ****. Dr_evil
You'll need spring compressors for the front ones Also; At 2 inches or more you need extended brake lines if you're adding drop shocks or +2's, theres some slack in the standard pipes but to be on the safe side you're best with the extended flexis, you'll want wide angle double de-cardon props (some MOD spares for sale on ebay atm) you'll also want cranked radius and trailing arms, this is for a proper lift job. You could then add body spacers to get bigger tyres on as well as trimming away some bodywork to allow for larger tyres, to adjust the steering issue go for properly offset modular steels rather than aluminium or steel billet spacers, they put more strain on the running gear than proper rims do so you might find yourself replacing the bearings earlier, plus they can snap, de-form and fall off or the tensile bolts can snap.
