hoggysreels
Going to Ireland in September, is it a long drawn out affair taking a shogun to Ireland or the opposite? ... basically what is the procedure legally
Brisa
I'm in the north and we have to apply for a european firearms pass to travel to the mainland. Not sure what they cost as the club done it for us but it took a few weeks although our system is very slow.
vole
I go to the ROI every year at least twice , have places where I could shoot but it does not seem worth the bother . Then again I am just into rough shooting and know a couple of farmers .
Catamong
You will need a European SGC, obtainable free of charge from your local firearms licencing unit. Don't leave it too late to apply, I would suggest you get in now. If you are flying there, you will need to check whether your airline will accept guns, and at what cost...? If you going by ferry, you may need to notify them at the time of booking that you will be carrying a firearm, there will also be a restriction on the amount of ammo that can be taken, check their website. PhilR
There's a bit more to it now Cat. You need a Police Permit from the Gardai €40 , I hope to be in the England ABT team shooting at Ashbourne in September and this info has popped up on the CPSA website. The same will apply to anyone wanting to take firearms into ROI for target or hunting purposes. http://www.cpsa.co.uk/news/championships/2012/07/19/abt-home-international-2012
Catamong
Well, that's a disgraceful case of back door taxation, the whole idea of a Euro permit is to allow free access throughout member states within the EU. No doubt other self inflicted bankrupt states like Spain and Portugal will soon jump on this bandwagon, to screw yet more money out of potential tourists..? I hope somebody challenges it in the European Court..? Cat.
PhilR
Yes Cat it is disgraceful that GB doesn't recognise the EFP either.

PhilR
I haven't made it yet another selection shoot to go next month. She's in the GB team for world champs at Pinhal in Portugal though.
