Dominicrobed
Hi im off on my first pigeon shoot and was wondering what chokes to use in my beretta 686e ? Im not very good with choke selection so when clay shooting I just stick with how i bought it with cylinder and skeet. Also if I need to change them what notched out ones do I put in and in what barrels ? Sorry if I sound a bit stupid
Thunderbird
I'd stick with what you have in there if you shoot well with them.
Dominicrobed
I'd stick with what you have in there if you shoot well with them. I have been wacking clays with them and was top gun at my last little club shoot. Thank you for your advice

wymberley
Depends on what you want the choke to do and the range that you're shooting at. If you're looking at slightly increasing the range in one barrel then Imp by 1/2 or 1/4 by 3/4 will suffice. In view of the effective area of the pattern and the number of pigeon (vital area) that can fit in it, going up one choke size achieves very little (roughly a half a pellet per bird) in relation to the number of strikes required to ensure a clean kill. A clay will break with one strike but a pigeon requires a minimum of three on each shot. On the other hand, you could just grab the gun and some cartridges and just go out and enjoy yourself!
