Big Mat
My lab knows sit with a clicker, its pointless in my opinion. Much easier to use the whistle or hand signal.
kent
its a device to gradualy replace food rewards in classical conditioning. most of us have dogs that respond just fine to "good dog" or similar and a chin rub. just another gadjet imo doubt i will ever buy one

The clicker is seen by the dog as a reward the commands are the same. clicker replaces food, idea is better timing than saying "good dog" or similar in a kindly voice. Each time the dog completes a task correctly trainer gives a treat and clicks, then food is gradually phased out and the click stays to say to the dog the boss is pleased. It would go like this dog delivers a dummy well to hand you click and take it, dog drops to wistle you click, dog gets into car when told you click etc etc. Keep your cash in the pocket better gundog books in the UK from better trainers IMO
pigeon pete
i just use hand signs ,treats and voice commands ,the biggest mistake you can make while training a dog is to reward it for only doing half of its commend ,the dog will think its done the full command
