clicker training

i saw a book while browseing amazon that was dedicated to clicker training for working dogs ( american ) .

just wondered how you could adapt clicker to the commands that we use , maybe its just a yank thing

You misunderstand. The clicker is seen by the dog as a reward the commands are the same. clicker replaces food, idea is better timing than saying "good dog" or similar in a kindly voice. Each time the dog completes a task correctly trainer gives a treat and clicks, then food is gradually phased out and the click stays to say to the dog the boss is pleased.

 

It would go like this dog delivers a dummy well to hand you click and take it, dog drops to wistle you click, dog gets into car when told you click etc etc.

 

Keep your cash in the pocket better gundog books in the UK from better trainers IMO
