Graham M
Have a look and see if the cut-out for the extractor is full of gunge. This could be allowing a slightly bigger case head to work but be preventing a smaller one as it may be stopping the claw from riding over the head. G.M. Olliesims
The Cali is .223 I've used these rounds but with no problem at all, there also factory rounds the Winchester psp, the round fires but on extraction of the bolt the case is still left in the barrel causing me to use a cleaning rod to remove it, hornady v max are being extracted with the case fully leaving the chamber, I've even put some Ppu through and there also being extracted I used half a box of winchester with no problems and all of a sudden it's not removing them, i even tried a new box that i bought at the same time when I remove the casing it has scratched/rubbed across the face of the base of the round, on the casing they look like there an old batch black spots on the casing and other marks, I was convinced the bolt was the problem but then if it was it wouldn't extract anything, I'll try giving it a clean where the lug is and see what happens
Olliesims
I also stripped the bolt and cleaned it all over around where the clip grips the round but didn't change anything
Olliesims
Just a quick update the Winchester psp I was buying was the reason my groups where so bad and bolt not extracting after taking gun and ammo to the gun smith he told me there is nothing wrong with the bolt, the problem was the so called factory ammo was in fact not factory and was badly reloaded ammo just in the Winchester cases, the gunsmith put some of his Winchester in fired and ejected fine, After taking the ammo back and telling him, he said he had got the ammo with a part exchange gave me a full refund and offered to pay for any damages caused, luckily no damage was caused, and I was happy with that, after telling him it was illegal as well and saying sorry multiple times, I even got some birchcasey shoot n c free, after that I no longer trust that shop and will be travelling else where!!!! pigeon pete
my howa and a few friends that had them had trouble with this ,its not your bolt/or extractor ,it because they have tight chambers ,ammo like wolf /steel cases gets stuck ,your best bet is if when you close the bolt and theres a bit of resistance don't close it all the way and open the bolt , don't then use that make of ammo ,the only time i didn't have trouble is when i started home loading and full length sizing the cases ,iam not slagging off howa rifles as i think there great ,only reason i got rid of mine was money was tight a few years ago Edited August 14, 2012 by pigeon pete
