Unlikely but a possible injector issue, exhaust gases passing by a poor seating nozzle needle combination or excessive leak back which is the rubber braided pipes.

Try replacing the leak off pipes 1st. ( pipe available from most automotive stores )

is it the fabric pipe that links all four together ?

Yes it is

I have replaced it, the pipes were held on with lock wire, Iv used a cable tie but it blows off and fuel gushes out,

Iv looked at my mates engine (300tdi) and you can just pull his leak off pipes off, just a slow drip.

Im thinking an injector could be blocked but its not missing infact its running sweet as a nut???

Hence the baffleisation

Iv whipped all the injectors out, im going to get them tested tomorrow hopefully.

I hope to god its not an injector because mines a jap import with EDC and apprantly the injectors are different hand hard or impossible to get hold of...

If it wasnt for bad luck i wouldnt have any

where does the leak off pipe run too? could the return (to fuel tank) pipe be blocked / crushed

if you suspect one of the injectors the easy way to check them out would have been to buy a metre of leak off pipe (about a fiver), using a longer pipe loop out one injector at a time, blank one side of the looped out injector with a short piece of pipe and a suitable size bung (screw or small bolt) and a long pipe on the other side into a jam jar, run the engine for a set period of seconds, say 30, note accumulation, do all four the same way, 5 mins work once you have the pipe purchased and ready

It runs from each injector to number 1 then back to the injector pump.

I can get my head around your test method, There is defo something wrong hopefully with one of the injectors.

The pressure in the leak off pipe was quite substaintial,

Its doing my head in.

OK see if we can make this easier, either;

were going to call this the return to pump pipe

two jam jars and a length of leak off pipe, take the return the pump pipe off no 1 injector and place in the first jam jar, length of pipe onto the injector where the return pipe came from and into the other jar, run engine, if it's one of the injectors it'll gush out of this leak off pipe, if it's a return issue then fuel will gush out of the return to pump pipe. if it turns out to be gushing out of the injectors you'll need to do either below or the test in the previous post, which just loops out for testing one injector at a time.

or

5 jam jars a card board box, shoe box will do just fine and either leak off pipe or screen washer pipe or whatever, cut 3 short blanking sizes of pipe and bung with a screw or bolt as before, blank off one side of each injector except no4 which is already blanked, put the five jars in the cardboard box to keep them tidy and steady, place said box in engine compartment / on engine where the pipes will reach, 1 pipe per jar, 1 pipe is the return to pump pipe the other 4 from the injectors, run the engine and see where the excessive amount of fuel is coming from

if you still don't get it I'll do some pics tomoz

Right injectors came back ok.

My mate and i were swapping the springs for hevy duty ones when he said.

Look at your tanks its had a right knock underneath, It looked vaccumed all drawn in.

I undid the filled cap and it sucked air in lots of air. It been parked up unrun for 3 days

The tank looked more normal.

I then replaced the injectors and leak off pipes (new leak offs)

And ran the engine without the filler cap fitted.

Its fine, no pressure at all, iv road tested it it seems ok.

So Iv searched online, seems some had a vent in the cap itself, it should have a breather on the tank.

Both must be blocked any way im going to drill a 1.5mm hole in the filler cap and just run it see what happens
