BRYAN3 Posted August 22, 2012 Report Share Posted August 22, 2012 Yes. I am having the same experience on my td4 right now. Had it diagnosed as front brakes. The discs are very worn and are dragging. handy4454 Posted August 23, 2012 Report Share Posted August 23, 2012 Prop shaft centre bearings can be a pain,sounded like the problem was on the front nearside but turned out to be the front centre bearing,changed that and eighteen months later the rear started to rattle and squeak,no problem to trace this time though! New bearings £21.50 each from Brit Parts,dropping the propshaft complete with viscous coupling outside on the road last Jan in the snow was like wrestling a snake but needed the vehicle so no choice,moral of the story is if one bearing has gone replace the pair.......... atb handy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However if it moves or seals stay well away from Britpart, things in blue boxes are usually more trouble than the apparent saving is worth because you'll end up doing it twice, or more. Albert 888 Posted August 31, 2012 Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 Had the same as above,prop bearings,if you remove the prop match mark all couplings as the prop is balanced. You could spray some oil type lube in the bearing to find which one dont use penatrateing spay ie wd40. Whilst under the car,check the gearbox mounts as mine eats them.
