First Pigeon Shoot

After a rather cheeky ask on here last week 12borejimbo very kindly offered a day on the pigeons to show me how it's done and allow me to tick off something I've been wanting to do for ages.

We set up and I got to know how to build a hide and where, as well as some of the dark art of decoding before getting settled. The first bird came in and James kindly allowed me to take it which I did. The next few got lucky and flew on before James dispatched them with single shot efficiency. After a few penguins (the biscuit) we had a few good range birds and James used his Crow decoy to great effect.

The result was a pleasing bag of 13 pigeon and 3 crows. We were hoping for more but to be honest I had such a nice day out with some great conversation, I even missed a couple of birds for chin wagging!

I cannot thank James enough for taking the plunge on an anonymous newbie and for all of the time and effort he put in to show me then ropes for no cost. Throughly top lad. Just to top it off he took me to his range to let me have my first outing on a CF rifle as well! Blooming spoilt today, thanks James.

Top man is Neal and as I said mate more than welcome to come down again and help me with the bean stubbles, hopefully the bag will be a bit bigger this time but as I said it's all about being out, and I hope I taught you a few things about pigeon shooting and stalking. The start of a great adventure and hobby!

Looks like you had a cracking day buddy.

Member of this forum took me out for my first days sport, and god knows how many times since. (and got me a amazing permission) Was the kindest thing anyone has ever done. Him and another member have since become two of my best friends.

Its great to hear when people take someone out and to see how happy it makes them.
