HAMMY
I've been looking at a Ruger M77 Wood in 22-250, with a weaver 3-9 x 40 Scope, both 2nd/hand, and I 'm looking to put on a ESA Utra moderator. He's wanting 399 for rifle and scope and 280 for Mod + 90 to screw, not re-proofing. Opinions please, I know the Ruger Bolt is a bit "Mechanical" but any comments would be welcomed. I know the shop owner and out of all the 2nd hand rifles he had, this one has done the least as he know's it's history. Thx Hammy
henry d
So does he know how many rounds have gone through it?? and can you trust him implicitly??
Hodmedod.one
40mm is a small objective lens if you going to use the set up for lamping. The bigger the lens, the more light it lets in, which is why the 8x56 Schmidt & Bender's are so popular.
Sussexboy
I know two people who have had Ruger M-77's. Admittedly they were both .308's. Neither rifle would hold a consistent zero despite lots of fettling from some very experienced shooters and lots of trials with various different loads. They were moved on, be sure you know the history and why it was sold by the previous owner.

Hodmedod.one
Thx I didn't fancy the Scope at all. Spend as much as you can afford (plus a bit extra) on the scope. Long term you won't regret it.
deadeye ive
Quote Hammy I'm looking to buy a 22-250, and went in to have a look today, the guy had a Tikka T3 Lite, with a S & B 8 x 56 "klassic" Scope and a wildcat Moderator sitting all new and reproofed 1450 Quid, is he about right for price? And what are the opinions on this set up?? The above apart from the price was spot on mate IMO
