Livefast123
A few months ago I had some issues with faulty ammunition. I contacted the shop where it had been purchased and the manufacturer who confirmed that the batch was subject to some quality control issues and was being investigated. They sent down a new brick of a higher quality ammunition and that was that. Last week I bought a new brick of the same ammunition and took it to the range today, not one round would cycle and the cartridges were stuck in the chamber and had to be removed with a screwdriver. Thinking that my chamber was dirty I tried some Mini-Mag which worked perfectly. 2 other members then tried it in a 10/22 and a BSA bolt action, both failed to eject and the BSA case was stuck so hard that it had to be removed with pliers. I then checked that batch number and found it was the same as the faulty batch that they had sold me last time. Now it's 30 mile round trip to my nearest shop and I am slightly annoyed to say the least that they know the batch is faulty and they are still selling them. It is going to have cost me 60 miles extra fuel, my wasted time at 1/2 hour per trip and 6 hours of lost shooting time. A shocking way to try and make a buck. Cranfield
It could easily have been a different delivery from the Manufacturer (even though it had the same batch numbers). Surely your grief is with them , not the Retailer.
HDAV
legally it is the retailers issue as that who Livefast entered into contract with. Hopefully a phone call monday morning and an explanation of the issue and hassle will get it promptly sorted.... However I don't think the shop deserves to be shut down, what can they do unless manufacturer issued a full recall of all stocks of that batch (unlikely) if you get some dodgy ones they'll replace them. Livefast123
The batch number is easily seen on the packaging and the retailer was involved in discussions with the manufacturer about the faulty batch number so should really have checked as there were known issues. Both are at fault but this is the last in a long line of customer service faux pas from said shop. HDAV
Last or latest? IF the Batch number is so prominent why did you buy them?
Livefast123
Because I was stupid and took their word that there was no issues and my memory isn't quite that good! Hopefully a call tomorrow will sort it all out but I won't be going back. Edited September 16, 2012 by Livefast123
HDAV
Because I was stupid and took their word that there was no issues and my memory isn't quite that good! Phone call Monday stay as polite as possible and if you have the removed cases keep them, an email to shop and manufacturer/importer worth doing to keep it all in writing. Give them 7 days to sort it out. Then perhaps dont use that manufacturer again. ALos worth posting the batch number etc so others arent caught or to see if the problem is more wide spread. Livefast123
I'm the diplomatic type so shouldn't have problem there and have sent an email to the manufacturer explaining my issues. I have all the cases as came from the guns so will be able to take them to the shop. The ammunition is .22LR Geco batch number 2GT652, it just happens to shoot great in the CZ when it works. silverhawk
There have been a lot of problems with the new batches of 22LR Geco And most rfds are aware of this. Some of the guys at my club have switched to other brands due to problems with the ammo. I only have 400 left of the old stock after that i might go for another brand myself.
