southeastpete
Hi, I am looking at buying a buell xb9s, and thought i would consult the amassed knowledge of PW first. Its up for £2,750. It has apparently had a mod done where a wire is removed from the ECU, which is done in california to pass emissions test, but apparently adds 5bhp... Does anyone know anything about these bikes and whether this is true or no? And if the price is about right? It has done 33,000 miles, is this too high for a motorbike? Many thanks, Pete
paulr5604
What year is the bike. I don't personally know much about the buell bikes apart from being made by Harley Davidson. If the bike has full service history I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much. Have you done a text check to find out if its been written off etc it also tells you what it is worth
Magus69
XB9's have a white wire which goes to the vehicle speed sensor which gives a dip in performance to pass noise/emissions tests removing/disconnecting it does up the performance slightly. mrwabbits
A future classic if looked after and you can get the spares, bearing in mind these are now no longer produced and will become collectors in a few years. Be prepared to renew the rear drive belt every 5K or less (tend to chew belts). 33,000 is nothing if serviced well and regular - (one of my bikes has done 70,... and still going strong The mod is true, it has been known to be done. The price sounds on a par give or take - but less would be nicer ... at end of day .. something is only worth what some-else is willing to pay On a serious note ; even if you have fell in love with your future purchase ( and ile bet you have and want it now ) Think bike !! ## I seriously hope you have tried and tested and ridden one of these Buells ?? If not , you are in for a surprise and maybe a shock, be it pleasant or otherwise. The steering and handling on these are somewhat ,, hhhmmmm, shall we say ---- "special" / "different" Lets just say that you will not want to do hand signals prior /during/ and after a manoevere whilst riding  due to the short - steep rake of the front forks and tight wheelbase. Other than that ; enjoy your new other woman motorcycle, and ride her fast and hard Happy riding - Stay safe -ride free - shiny side up

Have you done a text check to find out if its been written off etc it also tells you what it is worth Buells have Harley engines. They were made by Buell, founded by Eric Buell. I would be making checks on belts, servicing, bearings etc. I'd be paying careful attention to the frame as it carries the fuel, and the swinging arm as it carries the oil. Nice bikes, I like them. Great scratching tool too. Individual, enjoy

As a biker myself, that video is incredible! Ive seen road testers drifting sports bikes and stuff on the roads before, but not with quite as much control as that guy has! Amazing!
