gamekeeper1960
Hi, just thought I'd share my latest project with you guys, Its made from english oak and mated up to blackthorn shank,it is also reinforced acrossed the top so it should last a life time, I've started to do some more carving in oak as I was given a load by a chap who makes furniture and thats a good enough reason to use it not the easiest to work but has such a beautiful grain that changes with the light and angle you view it from, hope you like . telf
beautifull can you not find a farm/crafts shop to sell them for you
mark@mbb
Sell them private on the site as a 3rd party will rip you off you will get a better price off hunting / shooting folk
gamekeeper1960
Sorry dont get me wrong I have no problem selling them its only on here folks think that hand made sticks should only cost £25- and I dont know what most folks get paid per-hour but when it takes two days on average per-stick what does that make them worth ? happy.plinker
When you say reinforced across the top ,is that like a steel pin or something because of the vertical/weaker grain across the handle?
gamekeeper1960
Thats right there is a piece of 1/4 inch threaded rod glued in with two part epoxy resin as you say because of the way the grain runs, in some resepects bit over engineered but then if you didnt do and it snaped if dropped you would have the right to be miffed ! I know I would be if bought it and it happend to me ! Edited September 19, 2012 by gamekeeper1960
