THE AD
Just took the grandson home after an afternoon pigeon shooting,a round trip of seven miles. Two cars in the rear view mirror three from on coming traffic.Lights that bright i had to look away. Are these bulbs legal now,if the bulbs are legal should the lights be fitted at a lower degree so not to impede other drivers. Muggins.
Totally agree, they are a nightmare. I thought they were considering banning them.

Especially when you've got used to driving in daylight morn and eve all summer, its like a a double whammy!
Livefast123
HID lights must be fitted with a lense that is E marked for HID, have a self leveling system and have a cleaning system fitted to be legal for road use.......so that kind of rules out the cheap bay of e kits fitted to so many of the modified car user group vehicles, Those chavvy blue bulbs are legal as long as they are E marked and 55w/60w. Bloody annoying though Edited September 23, 2012 by Livefast123
keg
Livefast has beaten me to it. Most of teh cars that blind me round here are registered 2002 or previous and are taxis so you know they were not standard fit. Seen a few Saxos with green lights too... Bloody annoying though I had heard that it is now illegal to retro fit HID kits on cars ? My mates lad had his rejected at a recent MOT. I remember when they outlawed them for road rallies due to them cancelling out oncoming light from vehicles on small country roads. Head on collision waiting to happen - I think they are dangerous as others have said. Most of the 'Halfords' style blue/white 55w bulbs are OK - been there, done that. Vince Green
Often have occasion to drive back from Bristol to London in the dark on a Sunday night when the traffic is really heavy on the M4. I know I am getting older but really! the lights on modern cars are blinding. These big red LED rear light clusters light up the entire inside of the following car every time they are applied and the high intensity headlights even when dipped still look like lasers in the rear view mirror. The beam may be dipped but the source, the bulb, still shows up very brightly in the mirror and makes it hard to judge speed and distance.
