Lamps - lightforce or deben???

Evening all,

My clulite has finally reached the end of it's life.

Now this may seem like a silly question both deben & light force seem to have the same 140 & 170.

However, I have been looking at the bigger deben 210 and the light force 240, are these the same size or different??

Is one better than the other or are they the same lamp?

I will be going for variable power, lamp + red filter.

I would appreciate your experience and knowledge of which one to go for and the best place to purchase from??

PM if you have a decent SH you are looking to get rid of.

Would consider a 170 variable + filter

Cheers

simple answer is one is a copy of the other basically, I've no experience of the deben but have had lightforces for years. Yes eventually you have wiring problems but thats understandable with the use. 15 minutes with a soldering iron sorts them though, I can safely say you won't regret buying one but no idea if the deben would be just as good or not

Al4x what size light force do you generally use? I was after the 210 or 240 variable, so I've got the range but can turn it down for close stuff or when I've got a Charlie on, I find a red filter tends to zapp abit of range. But starting to consider a 170

Cheers NB

I have a deben tracer max but no longer use after buying a lightforce its better lamp that's more adjustable to make the beam higher or lower what I could never do with the deben making it easy for me to get rid of any moderator glare

Where did you get yours from?

Go with a 170 with an amber filter :good:

Hate red filters

Over the last 15 months I have been helping out lamping for a guy who uses an LF 240, because his pens are isolated so he has to try and kill them when he can. So if they are quite far out his 22-250 from a roof platform and with plenty of light from the 240 it works very well 250 yds plus on the red filter.

I use a LF 170 gun mounted and hand held on foot off sticks.

Both very good lamps….

Cheers for the advice, We only lamp from a vehicle so I should be able to get away with the lf240 and tweak it down when needed.

Funnily enough having had few lf problems broke both mine tonight so ended out with an led torch utter sheite but we did get one more by luck than judgement. Usually though we lamp without a filter on foxes and once spotted the lamp is straight off them then dimmed to the absolute minimum while we call then increase for the shot. A 170 is as much as you need like this as you can see them at 500 plus yards. A filter drops that a lot really the only time we do use a filter is rabbiting when it makes a big difference but you can still see them at we'll over 100 yards. A 240 will be a bonus with a filter but they are fairly cumbersome
