White Lodge
Hi. I have just bought a 2nd hand 1416, when I take out the bolt to clean or to carry it, I have trouble getting it back in. I know that I have to push forward the button on the left hand side and pull the trigger at the same time. This is fine taking it out but when I want to replace it I can't pull the trigger as the rifle has been cocked, or so it seems. Is there something I am missing or doing wrong? What status should the safety be in? Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.
mad1
I have the 1517 17hmr and on mine to get the bolt back in you have to twist the bolt before you try to but it back in ( if that makes sense ??) This aligns the slot with the raised part on bolt ?!? Then holding the bolt in my right hand it can be slotted back in while using my left thumb to slide the little button and my middle finger to pull the trigger in Edited October 8, 2012 by mad1
telf
the safety should be in the ready to fire ,unsafe position or on the red mark, its a case of trying to line up the bolt with the bolt receiver grooves, once youve got the hang of it its a peice of ****.Turn the front part of the bolt to suit without it becoming unlocked from the rear part of the bolt
bicykillgaz
Sounds a lot of messing about, I'd swap it for a cz!
White Lodge
Cheers for the sensible replies ;0 I will continue to practice. I couldn't find a CZ, apparently they are all in the proof house.
RangerDave
I have a 1416 and it does take some getting used to if your not aware that when cleaning, you can sometimes twist the front half of the bolt round. Before replacing bolt check that the front half is lined up with rear, that is, on the underside of the bolt where the scalloped front piece has a protruding rail that strips the next bullet out of the magazine, line it up with the recessed groove on the rear of the bolt, you should feel it click into a detent, of which there are two, the other is round a little more towards the bolt handle, any further and it will disassemble the front half completely! Hope that helps?
