jam1e
Hi folks, I finally got round to zeroing in my CZ 527 .204 American yesterday. However, it still feels as rough as a bears **** after 20 shots. To be more precise, the bolt feels rough when cycling, the trigger "take-up" feels rough and the metal mag feels hard going getting it back in. (mag may be just a design issue?) I've had 4 previous CZ rifles, but they were all rimfires. And even my 2 new CZ rimfires were only a tad rough. But after cycling the bolts vigorously around 20 times then cleaning and oiling them they're like silk. I did the same with the 527 cf but it still feels rough. Will it ease in time, or have other CZ centrefire owners found them to stay rough?? Experiences or knowledge would be appreciated...
pigeon pete
i dont know anything about the CZ center fire rifles but you could try some molly grease on the action and sit there for a while cycling the action and the mag catch and mag well ?? lineshooter
I`ve got a Cz 550, the bolt was like yours when I got it new, I had a look on the Cz owners site in the USA, several threads on there recommend the oiling/greasing and quite a lot of cycling of the bolt method. So thats what I did, mines had around 500 rounds through it and several cycling`s and it`s very smooth to use now.
njc110381
Same here. I've had four CZ centrefires that I can remember and all of them were a bit tight when new. The best action I ever had was a cz527 that had been smoothed up by a pro. Not far behind it is the action on my 527 Hornet which has seen 10,000ish rounds. You just need to wear off the rough parts that's all. A couple of hundred rounds should see it improving.
Hornet 6
Mine was a bit rough to start as well, smooth as silk now after a couple of thousand rounds. It actually smoothed up fairly quickly, but until it does try pushing the bolt forward with your thumb on the end of the bolt, not the bolt knob, helped enormously on mine. Neil. Amazed
My cz 527 American in 22 hornet flavour is really smooth and the trigger is fantastic. I got it second hand so don't know if any work has been done to it. Try some grafite greese on the bolt untill it smoothes up.
njc110381
I found no lube is best at first, you want it to wear those rough edges back as quickly as possibble before you get it all greased up.
jam1e
Cheers folks. Is there much point in gentally polishing the sear to avoid the grinding with the "take up"? Or would i be left with a pile of bits and springs?

I understand what your saying, but repeatedly cycling the bolt dry does concern me  How many times have you done this and have you had any problems after doing it?? pigeon pete
Why would graphite grease help? its a grinding paste this will help and when its smooth then clean and apply gun oil

Just keep using it all will ease, they are made on a wear to fit principle. Check your mag spot welds havent failed if its hard to insert into the bottom iron

Just keep bolting it open and shut while in your house or something
cleaner4hire
as above, just dont repeatedly fire off the action and you'll be fine.
